Description

RFID in tires is the new market standard to connect tires to their ecosystems, enabling the digital management of tires worldwide from cradle to grave. A growing number of original equipment manufacturers (OEM) in the automotive industry are now considering leveraging RFID. Core use cases within automotive OEM are focused on inbound/outbound logistic, simplified, and optimized tire testing protocols, optimization of tire and wheel assembly, end of line vehicle control for compliance. In this joint presentation:

  • Prof. Antonio Rizzi, RFID Lab University of Parma, will discuss the RFID tire initiative, describing the objectives, issues at stake in the supply chain, RFID Tags technical challenges and standards. He will also discuss the goals of the GDSO - Global Data Service (an international association formed to standardize data related to tires, define solutions to access and exchange data, develop online solutions and explore future scenarios).
  • Julien Destraves, Michelin's RFID system designer for the company's services and solutions business line, will take a deep dive into the Michelin use cases, focusing on logistics and traceability and tire testing, and detailing the non-confidential information about the firm’s deployment

Key takeaways:

  • Learn how global standards enable end to end traceability and data exchange across the tire makers
  • Learn how RFID based solutions in the domain automotive logistics or tire design process add a digital dimension between automotive and tire industry
